February 2018: growth[period] is proud to support FilmNorth's Center for Media Arts this month. FilmNorth’s mission is to empower artists to tell their stories, launch and sustain successful careers, and advance The North as a leader in the national network of independent filmmakers. They achieve their mission by nurturing a vibrant, diverse community of film and media artists; providing education and resources at every stage of their careers; and celebrating their achievements.
FilmNorth was founded in 1987 as Independent Feature Project Minnesota by independent filmmakers to realize their dreams of creating feature-length narrative films in Minnesota without the support of a major studio. Today their commitment to the art and craft of visual storytelling encompasses screenwriting, filmmaking, and photography. FilmNorth empowers beginner to professional level artists through classes, equipment rental, grants, professional networking, and a connection to a bigger audience. Visit their website to learn more.
