David Smydo is currently the Chief Executive Officer of Sokolin LLC, which is a leading luxury retailer and direct marketer of fine and rare wine to high net worth individuals internationally. The Company currently operates in 30 countries and has offices in New York, Switzerland, and France. The Company is primarily known for offering a superior selection of ultra-premium, back-vintage European wines as well as its white glove customer service.
In his tenure at the Company, he has led the business through a period of significant growth and has overseen the transformation of a traditional wine store into a world-class industry leader. He is responsible for developing and executing the company's strategic management and directs the management team responsible for finance, technology, procurement, sales & marketing, logistics distribution operations. He has also directed the enterprises' first initiatives into technology, web development e-commerce. He has managed the successful design and implementation of a proprietary, technology-based information system encompassing and integrating every business segment within the Company. He has successfully directed and executed five M&A deals during his tenure at the Company
In addition to his duties at Sokolin LLC, David has a taken on additional time-limited roles as the Managing Director of seven separate land investment companies that specialize in locating strategic properties and investing in land with valuable oil, gas and mineral rights within the United States
Previously, David worked for Internet Venture Works, a startup high technology company funded by a leading Private Equity company based in Boston, Massachusetts. He was also the Founding and Senior Managing Partner of SD Acquisition Group, a company specializing in strategic acquisitions of undervalued enterprises in basic industries, including metals and mining and confectionery products. He has enjoyed a professional career in financial and operational management, with increasingly responsible roles including the position as CFO of a subsidiary of a large mining and manufacturing company
David holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Washington and Jefferson College in Pennsylvania. David has previously been a participant of the Yale School of Management Chief Executive Leadership Institute’s CEO Summits. He is an active professional mentor at Washington and Jefferson College, as well as leading educational courses on wine etiquette and wine’s role in the world of business
David is also an active member of the 1897 Society, which is a group of philanthropists which provide a much-needed source of revenue to the Washington Health System that will enable it to continue to provide a full range of health care services to the residents of the community while remaining an independent health care provider. David also currently holds several advisory positions in various industries from luxuryfashion to manufacturing.
